New apps

Finally got around today to upgrading my iPhone’s OS and was able to download some cool apps for my photos and journaling – Day One, A Beautiful Mess and Collect. Here are some photos from collect, I love it! And day one is awesome. I don’t have it all figured out yet but I wrote 7 journal entries already today. This will be so helpful when I go to work on my PL pages.

Herculean

That's the effort it took for me to sit and play with felt for an hour this morning. Oh the things I had to ignore, stuff down, turn off. And I am not really an overly busy person. If I have a concrete task, it's done before I can even write it on my to-do list. But if I want to just fart around in my craftroom I can't seem to fit it in.

Ok, now I'm just staring out the window again. This is what I revert back to whenever I get stuck with something in my day. I feel like flippin Walter Mitty. I need a mean Adam Scott to throw paper clips at me and snap me back to it. Sorry, we just watched that movie the other night. We all enjoyed it, 4 Lang thumbs up!

wee bunny

Some tiny bunnies are popping up around the house. I started them over a month ago and just now am embroidering faces on them. I used the wee bunny freebie pattern and I shrunk the PDF down to make them smaller.

Thanks for the vacation advice! We did end up taking a minibreak and it was very fun. My big joke is that we got so bored we decided to risk the kids' lives and went to City Museum in St Louis. Wow that place is something. I'm gonna pretend I'm the cool parent and say how it was amazing and a super awesome blastfest. I won't tell you about the part where I about had a panic attack/nervous breakdown bc the kids climbed into a wall and didn't reappear for 30 minutes.

obsessed with escape

Spring break here again. I vowed last year that this year we were going to get the heck out of Chicagoland this year. And then we punked out again. We were going to drive to Tennessee and kick around there but then the forecast wasn’t looking great so we bailed. Of course now it looks awesome there. Drat. So now I’m focusing on Summer vacation. I’m still having all the same problems. We’re on a budget, tight budget. We have no miles, no points, no one travels for work. So it’s us, the minivan and whatever hotel we can find cheap. I haven’t been on Groupon in years but now I’m obsessed. Pouring over it every night. One of those deals must be the right one for us. Everyone wants to go to the beach. I don’t know how really that’s going to play out. We’re definitely a shade family, not a full sun one. But I’m looking. The perfect non-crowded beach that’s near cool stuff – state parks, museums, hiking instead of go karts, mini golf, carnival rides. I’m sure we’re the only family in US looking for such a vacation, ha!

If anyone knows any good (cheap/family) travel blogs I’d love the link.

Somewhat ironically, we are not a very hard to entertain family. Yesterday we drove around Chicago taste testing different donuts after a stop at the Garfield Conservatory. Cheap, easy, everyone had fun.

millet muffins

Do these look appetizing? I don't know how food bloggers do it. I always think of putting pics of what I'm eating on the blog and then I look at my photos and am like ew, no one wants to see that. Even though I make what food bloggers make. I have chocoloate chip cookie energy bars in my freezer that are delicious but look nothing like those. I can never make it look pretty enough. Even with instagram. Anyhoo, these millet muffins are delicious. Trust me. Don't trust my family. They won't go near them. Of course these are the people that devour butter braids at 8am. Does your school have butter braid fundraisers? Cake for breakfast. The Langs are all over them. Not me though. I'm eating healthy crunchy millet.
