decked

I love the holiday house. We put everything up the weekend after Thanksgiving so it’s up for as long as possible. We’re pretty much at capacity in our tiny ranch house but a few new things squeezed in this year. I fell in love with this super glittery snowman and couldn’t resist.

And this is my new ornament this year, from Martha Stewart for Macys. Peppermint baby!

And here are some of the usual suspects.

oh! and here are all the alicia ornaments I finished. Did I show these? I put stuff up on flickr and forget to blog it. I have one more to photograph, the red coat. It turned out sooo cute! That one is mine because I have an identical red coat *and* mittens on a string. It was meant to be. Mom got this bear, the mitten and the ice skate. Phoebe the cocoa mug, Oscar the deer and Tim’s is still to come. What’ll it be mister? tree or cottage?

Book Club Stitchettes in the shop

I always do as the librarian tells me and I had a few librarians asking for this pattern in the shop so… here it is! This is the first set of the Book Club Stitchettes, 3 designs. I have stetches for 2 or 3 more sets of three and then a plan for a quilt with all of them. I’ll be adding them to the shop as I finish them. It’s going to take some will power to wait to use these for the quilt because I think they’d make really cute Christmas gifts for the little readers in my life and they’re sitting here all nice and finished. It’d be so easy to sew one onto a tote bag for a sweet little book bag or sew one up as a pillow for the reading nook or even to just hang by the bookshelves. I know I’ll end up making a deal with myself – oh I’ll just stitch up another set – and then it’ll be the months long delay that’ll keep me from finishing the quilt. I’m going to have to hide these away!

Mr & Mrs Claus ornaments

I ran out of yarn to finish knitting these as teachers gifts as I’d planned but I didn’t want to waste time running to the yarn store as today was make some headway on teachers gifts day so I had to come up with a plan B.

I made little Mr & Mrs Claus here by shrinking down the Mr & Mrs Gnome pattern. I printed the PDF six pages on one page and it came out to be a good ornament size, 5″ tall. I cut out all the pieces and then glued them down, overlapping pieces as in the pattern, onto a piece of black felt. I tucked the rickrack loop in between the hat and backing and then glued a pom at the top. I used black E beads for the eyes. To make them glittery I painted parts – the hair, the beard, the belt buckle, the heart – with glitter glue. They turned out so cute I think! Now I want to make lots of my patterns over in teeny tiny ornament size.

friday craft roundup

I finished another Alicia ornament (oh look! PDFs are up now. I’m so getting the last set I don’t have). Love them!

Now though, I’m switching gears to make more cozies from More Last Minute Knitted Gifts for holiday teachers’ gifts.

I’ll hopefully be back later today with the next finished embroidery in the Readers series (still needs a cuter name). I was hoping to get these in the shop in time for Christmas crafting. I might stop stitching and work on the patterns so they’re available and then we can stitch along together! My plan is to make a lap quilt with the finished embroideries. Plans plans, I’ve got piles of them!
