day 4 – ball point needle

Yesterday I put the ball point needle in my machine to make a dress for Phoebe from some Heather Ross jersey fabric I’ve had forever. day 3 – forgot the sleeves

Here’s the top I made from McCalls 6022. I followed the wrong path in the directions and sewed up the yoke sides before inserting the flutter sleeves so she’s sleeveless. It’s still cute but I would have like to have more Heather Ross on there. So Day 3 was a success, Day 4 was a mixed bag. I’ll blog that later this afternoon.

pillowcase shirt

Here's something from that stack of stuff — a shirt from a pillowcase. The pattern I used called for elastic thru a casing at neck and cuffs but I was lazy and tried to just use elastic thread in the bobbin. After sewing a gazillion rows of it it's almost sufficiently scrunched up.

a dress

I successfully made an Easter dress for Phoebe this year! I think the key with this stuff for me is to totally not expect to finish it, not care if I do, and then it’ll happen. And I unconsciously picked a color for her dress that matched the one nice shirt I have for Oscar. Score! Aren’t they cute.
