doll giveaway!

Comments closed & Sarah is our winner! Thanks all, great blog recommendations! There will be another giveaway next week.

IMG_5142

Today's giveaway is a sprite or a fairy, something with funny little antennae off her head. Like Willow, she is made from the basic Elsa pattern. She has little buns made from a yellow fuzzy acrylic yarn. Her body is flannel and cotton and her dress was repurposed from a toddler shirt of Phoebe's. Her tulle wings are sewn to the back of her dress and the dress and shoes are removable. She was put together pretty quickly while I was working on fairy ideas for Land of Nod so she's not incredibly sturdy and may need some shoring up before any play.

Let's see, we need a question for the drawing. How about blog recommendations! I'm getting back into blog reading. I've purged a bunch of overly commercial sites from my reader and am looking for some low-key, real-life voices to read. If you have no recommendation just say hello below :)

To enter drawing please leave a comment below, answering the question above or just saying hi. I'll leave her up a few days then pick a winner at random. Again, sorry but US ONLY. Please see Willow's entry below if you have questions on that.

My next giveaway will be on instagram only so pop over instagram.com/hillarylang/ and follow me if you're interested, thanks!

I love reading our little lifestyle blog and also hello mess (she has been extremely inspiring as of late).

  2. Amy says:

She’s adorable. Captain obvious recommends Alicia Paulson or Amy Karol’s blogs. Still my all time faves.

  3. Bonnie says:

Slightly commercialized, but oh so real. I love reading Mandy of Vintage Revivals. Her decorating skills rock and she’s hilarious too.

  4. Kristin says:

I love this doll. I read so few blogs anymore, and I’m turned off by the commercials as well. I loved the house essays on Design*Sponge this past week though, and I love old house blogs too. I love my blog, but I’m contemplating cutting back.
    A good one is http://www.crumbbums.com.

Hi Hilary…I haven’t been reading many blogs lately. I just kind of scan Pinterest & click on things I find interesting. YOURS was the very first blog I followed! I fell in love with your dollies :) THIS little Pixie is adorable…those stripey socks! Thank you for sharing the cuteness!

  7. Kathleen says:

Oddly, I tend to read Instagram more than blogs anymore! I still live Maya Made and Alicia Paulson’s blog. Thanks for the chance! I know a sweet little girl whose birthday is this month!

Hi Hillary, Thanks for doing a giveaway! She is a beautiful doll. I like that she is a fairy with buns in her hair and the smocking on the dress is a nice touch! I really enjoy the blog Lovetaza.com. It is a fun spin on life, traveling and family. The photos and videos are gorgeous! I hope you enjoy it!

aww, I love her. It seems like there are less and less authentic voices in the bloggity world. More and more commercials. http://www.soulemama.com has stayed true to herself and I love reading her. like living the farm life without all the mud and manure

  10. Amy S says:

I love your dolls- I’ve made three for my little girls and also own your book. Whenever I see your posts I am inspired to be crafty. Thank you! My blog is an artsy sewing lifestyle one though not updated all the time!! Studiocharm.com/blog

Two of my favorites are Design Mom and A Beautiful Mess, although I haven’t spent lot of time on any blogs lately. So much to keep up with!

  12. Sharon says:

She is lovely! I’ve followed your work since 2006. My favorite blog at the moment is 6512 and growing.

  13. christina says:

I was trying to find something in my feed that isn’t hobby specific — cooking, crafting, etc — and … I couldn’t, at least ones that haven’t already been mentioned and are more words than projects or recipes.
So, I’ll leave you with one blog I love seeing pop up with new photos: mouseshouses.blogspot.com
    I always enjoy her work.

  14. Melissa h says:

If you like parent blogs with real voices I recommend swistle.com for crafts I think aunty cookie is still blogging and always hilarious. I read all the usual suspects many mentioned above. Oh for cookin I still love orangette. I’ll keep thinking :)

  15. Amanda says:

So cute! I don’t know that I have any good blog recommendations at this time… it seems that most of the blogs I read are becoming kind of commercial-ly and boring too… I think I need to look around a bit just like you! :)

  16. Amanda says:

I really love Maryline over at maryandpatch.blogspot.com and of course Alicia’s blog over at rosylittlethings.typepad.com :) Thanks for the chance to win one of your dollies!

Your work is fantastic and very inspiring!
One blog that I love and highly recommend is posiegetscozy.com. It is entertaining, very well written, and the photos are fantastic. I always feel uplifted when I have read her posting.
Keep up your wonderful work and have a great day!

  20. Brooke says:

Adorable fairy :). I like a little gofugyourself.com for a little shallow fashion critique with good writing for a break and a laugh.

  21. Cristina Trinidad says:

I love callherhappy.com she talks about embroidery (stitch-alongs) and personal (sometimes really funny) peeks into her personal life. I would LOVE to win this for my sweet niece who loves all things handcrafted AND Elsa!

  22. melissa s. says:

I’ve purged a bunch, too, but my remaining blog reads are: Soulemama, Posie Gets Cozy, Design Mom, Smitten Kitchen, Today is Going to be Awesome, and YOU :-) Fairy girl is adorable!!
