let’s make a fairy

Fairy how-to, that’s where we were, right? I’m making another fairy like this gal from the Elise/Elsa pattern and I’ll take photos along the way to show how to do her hair. Here’s what I’ve done so far.

First sew her body and head and stuff them both. I stuff my dolls super firm, not only because I like the way that looks and feel on the finished doll but also because I do the hair and face on after stuffing and I need a firm surface to work on. Next sew the head to the body using the ladder stitch. Here’s the page on ladder stitch from my book. It should be legible if you click to enlarge.

The next step should be stuffing and sewing on the arms and legs, but yeah, I forgot to and went ahead and started her hair. I’ll show you her bangs that I’ve just finished and then I’m going to take a break from the hair to put on her arms and legs. I don’t want to be wrangling with her to attach them after I’ve already got her pretty buns in place. So ok, bangs… I pin them in place

and then I use tacking stitches in a matching color thread to sew them down.
