earring book

My earrings have a little home now. I had some super thick felt that a friend picked up for me in Germany and I used that as the cover with some cute Japanese fabric glued to it. Inside for pages I used 2 pieces of gray wool felt glued together except for where I cut out little spaces for earrings to flop out. I punched the earring holes with a super tiny hole punch I have that I use to punch out decorations on doll shoes. It's a pretty handy gadget, all my earrings in one place. Of course it makes me want to buy more earrings so then I'll need another page. Not sure one would fit in there, so maybe I'll need 2 books. One for dangly and one for posts. All this earring action is making me want to get Phoebe's ears pierced. I don't know how I feel about that. I think it'd be cute as all get out but then maybe I need to make her whine and cry until she's in 6th grade like my mom did.

definitely make her wait! I had to wait until I was twelve- I was Dying to get it done. But my sister was allowed to do it at the same time as me- she’s two and a half years younger- I was so mad!

Was searching for my GF’s blog and came across yours. Started reading and came to the Earring Book post. Read it and had the same dilemma with my 2.5 yr trying to decide whether or not to have her ears pierced. At first I was completely against it. Nope, no way, not happening. She needs to wait until she can decide she wants them done.
Then, the other night I kept seeing babies and little girls my dd’s age with cute little earrings in. It was the cutest thing ever. Admittedly,
getting your ears pierced is kind of scary. I looked online for information about babies and toddlers (mine was 2.5 yr old) getting their ears pierced. Who knew it was such a hotly debated process?? Yikes. Finally asked our ped. She surprized me by encouraging me to go ahead when mommy could care for them. She said it was best and little girls never had problems with their mothers cleaning their ears during the healing phase.
I went ahead, took her tips for moms having their dd’s ears pierced. Took her to Piercing Pagoda where my ped had her dd done as an infant and had a good experience. Her tips had ideas how to find the right person/place, earring selection, OTC med’s to minimize any discomfort and after care.
I’d say if your’re thinking about having your dd’s ears pierced, then your mommy intuition is telling now is best and I’d go ahead and have it done soon.
If you or any other moms would like our ped’s tips, write me an e-mail.
