my pretty daffodil

every spring: oh! daffodils are so pretty. why don't we ever plant more daffodils. (we have 2, Phoebe picked one)

every fall: if I have to rake another leaf I'm going to lose my mind. I am so over this yard. gardening sucks it.

This makes me laugh, because I feel that way each year when I start my garden (I’m the queen of finding a new spot too shady for vegetables each year), and by the end I’m wondering why I wasted money or time on something that didn’t give me the benefits I wanted. Still get sucked in every year though!

Me too. But if you garden right, it works out okay. The only issue is wishing every year that I had planted more bulbs in the fall, but, by then, I’m too busy knitting or something.

I’ve been a homeowner for almost 2 years now and know I’m useless at it. Okay, I did fix the dishwasher and felt super-awesome about myself. But I look at my yard. And my garage. And my flooded basement (okay, done with April & her showers already!!!!!!!)

too funny about the daffodil picking. it brings back memories of when my son picked one of the few that bloomed and brought it into me thinking it would make me so happy. my first thought was ‘oh no”…but now years later, he’s still the same thoughtful human and i just keep throwing more leftover bulbs from pots into the ground for more surprises next year.
    yay. spring is finally here!!
