I bought these Joan Walsh Anglund pocket dolls on ebay a while back. Aren't they so cute! I've wanted to try the stretchy sock round headed dolls for a while. Oh wait, Pixie is sort of like this. But these dolls have some sort of styrofoam ball inside the head that makes it firm. They're are a few doll patterns like this in Japanese craft books. They have little drawings of ball + stuffing >> fabric = doll. That's about the extent of the explanation. I think I have a styrofoam ball around here somewhere....
Guess who is back in the shop after a long (2 year?!) hiatus... Big Footed Bunny! We didn't have more printed but Tim converted her into handy dandy PDF. The pattern is for a 10" floppy eared, big footed woolen/felt/flannel bunny who can be dressed in either criss-cross jumper or jaunty short pants. I love this size, very huggable and kids LOVE it but I thought it'd be fun to try out a smaller version too.
I printed the PDF at 50% and cut it out of wool felt and sewed it together by hand. Turned out so wee and cute! Perfect for a little basket.
Since we're overrun with bunnies I thought I'd do a little giveaway with this one. If you need more bunny in your life (and live in the US) leave a comment and I'll spin the random-number-generator tomorrow.
I forgot how much I love this bunny. It's one of my favorite flickr groups to look through. So many cuties in there! And man, have I made a lot of these bunnies myself over the years. Even makes a cute kitty!
I've got just a little more brain dump about Book Club and then I'm on to bunnies. Yesterday I posted the last design and now I'm gearing up for the quilt. For this series of Stitchettes, since I knew I wanted to make a quilt with them all, I wanted a cohesive color palette. Here's the ring of color I went with for all these embroideries. It made the stitching go so much faster with the limited colors to chose from. I added more browns/tans/neutrals but these were the main colors.
I picked fabric colors to match my floss. Not sure if these are final but this is where I'm jumping off from.
And this is my quilt sketch. I hope it works out cute. I'm worried about all the seams making those books. They'll disappear under the quilting, right? We'll see. Wish me luck!
p.s. Thanks to everyone who bought 1 & 2 and is emailing me for 3. Sorry I don't have a more sophisticated system worked out here.
The Book Club is complete! These last two are snuggled close together enjoying a book in their favorite chair. These little readers have been so much fun to stitch up. I almost feel like I want to do another nine. And I'm excited to get started on their quilt. I'm thinking it'd be a cute birthday present for Junebaby. I've got it all sketched out. Now I just need to figure out how to make it work.
So set no. 3 is done and up in the shop. As I mentioned before if you ordered the first two sets then this one is free. I've emailed the download to those who ordered one and two together but if you ordered them separately please email me and I'll send it along. And there's an all 3 option in the shop as well.
