Right? Even if it's 30 something degrees and the tips of the trees are still covered in the ice that covered everything this morning. I'm so ready for Spring I'm ready to jump at anything. I was inspired to try the resale shop today and found gorgeous Easter dress and cutie rain coat for Phoebe. Let's do this!

While She Naps is doing an Elements of Soft Toy Design series on her blog. Have you seen this yet?! So much great information! Gussets, button joints, stitch length, stuffing tips and much more. Today she's attaching parts by cutting a hole... I've never heard of this. I'm picking up all sorts of tips!

Except for a small blip there at Christmas I've had a really hard time getting excited about making toys since writing the book. But lately I find myself kicking around ideas again. Dress up fashion dolls, animals in outfits, stiffly stuffed animals.
This gal was in my box of abandoned ideas. Not totally abandoned, she ended up in the book in parts... her body turned into the Heart Doll and her hair landed on Mermaiden. But I still want to put the two together. l like the idea of a flat folky doll with interchangeable quilted wigs and different outfits. Fun, right?
I'm having daydreams again about starting a line of manufactured toys. Ethically produced, maybe even made in the USA toys. Of course even in hypothetical daydream form it's completely overwhelming. But, sigh... it'd be so awesome.

We've got the patterns for the second set of Book Club stitchettes up in the shop today. So the plan -- there's always a plan -- is to make 9 designs in all and do sew them altogether in a cool quilt for the kids. I've done 2 sets and was thinking we'd do this, if you've bought both sets, the third will be free. I'll also be writing up the directions for the quilt and have those available in the freebies section for anyone interested. I think it's going to be really cute. I have two quilt ideas that I really want to get made up while we're snowed in. Oscar's on board with the hibernation mentality. Now if I can just get Phoebe to calm down and play quietly I'll be good to go! These run-around kids don't do so well in the Winter do they.
And this week's super lazy blogger could google it but is just asking friends question is.. what's the coolest biggest Blythe community? I feel like playing Blythe again.

Okay! One of these overhyped weather events finally paid off. The blizzzzzard of 201111111 did it's job and dumped a mountain of snow all over us. The kids are in heaven! And I'd have really enjoyed our cozy shut-in snow day yesterday if it wasn't for the 5 hours of shoveling we did yesterday. Today we have another snow day to contemplate nature but of course it's -10000000 degrees so no playing in the snow.

After we shoveled out (and were able to shake off that panicked trapped feeling) I got a chance to try some more crochet. I made a headband from a bit of my hoarded Anna Maria Horner flannel and then crocheted this little border on it. It's nothing fancy. I wanted to try one like in those books I showed the other day but... couldn't get past the 2nd row! So all I finished were the scallops. The trouble I have is getting under the stitches and not going straight through the yarn. I hardly notice that yarn is made of twisted threads when I knit but with crochet it seems like I'm working with a loose bundle of string.

I'm working on covering the hall wall with snapshots. I think it's going to be super fun when it's done. I'm having all sorts of old photos printed up at snapfish. Love getting packets of photos in the mail. I'll have to share some of them soon.
