nutcracker how-to

Okay, now for the nutcracker’s how-to. First, just like Clara’s how-to this is not a polished & tested sewing pattern, but rather just a how-to of something I made on the fly. Second, Tim is cringing because I’m posting this like this but it’s the only way it’ll get done in time… hand written instructions, hand drawn diagrams and very shorthand!! Click here to download the PDF. Just let me know if you have questions.

Nutcracker in a nutshell is the Elsa Elf pattern printed really small, made up in felt and hand stitched together using a whipstitch and also a lot of gluing. The arms and legs were too skinny to be stuffed so they’re rolled felt. If you want you can slide pipe cleaners in there to make them poseable.

Thank you thank you. Please wish me speedy cookie making and jammie sewing so I can play next week–it’s going to take more than wishing with a snow day today and a huge school project for my daughter due 🙁
    So excited by these projects

I’m itching to make this set, but I’m not sure I have the patience for this little guy…maybe I’ll try needle felting him. Thanks so much for sharing all these details. I think my girls may be getting these for Christmas….NEXT YEAR:)

I’m so bummed, stopped in and saw these 2 wonderfully adorable ornies, tried to download the “Nutcrcker” PDF and nothing comes up. Is it a dead link or is something wrong on my end? I’m thinking of buying the actual patterns and reducing them as you recommended, but would still like the PDF on how to adjust the legs & arms for the doll. Please help!! Thanks!!
