Ottobre magazine giveaway & a bonnet

This week has been a very exciting mail week. A few days ago the Spring and Summer issues of Ottobre Design sewing magazine arrived and I have been marking pages and picking fabrics in preparation for today, my free sewing day. I just had to start with this killer cute bonnet. I want to make the matching dress too.

I was going to go with gingham just like the picture but at the last minute grabbed this vintage cheater quilt fabric. The quintessential Summer girls wardrobe to me is straight out of the 1970s so I thought what better for a bonnet than this. How cute will it be with her new red saltwaters!

So now I'm plotting my next move. I love these pages in the magazine where you get an overview of all the outfits and the sizes. This is my first time sewing from an Ottobre Design pattern and I had such an easy time with it. The pattern sheets are full size and color coded and easy to trace. It's all in English! The sewing instructions were clear and succinct. I'm very encouraged to start another project.

And you should be too because I have an extra Summer 2010 issue to
giveaway. Just leave a comment (US only please) and I'll enter you and
then pick a winner on Monday. There are boy and girl patterns and baby
through big kid. You can click on this issue on the Ottobre site and see
all the different designs.
