Rainbow pushpins from the Science and Surplus. People are crazy for this place. It's mostly crap and I'm sorta over it but still I can never seem to walk out empty handed (that last link freaks me out. Oscar's so tiny! and the photos with our old camera, yikes. Not that I do that much better with the fancy one.)

It's still gloomy out and I'm still craving brights. Today's color therapy: looking back through the photos of the Poland tree from the Trees Around the World exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry and also at all the Polish Paper Chandeliers that were floating around in blogland in the Fall. So pretty!

  1. I planned a mad scientist party for my son’s 10th last summer. We went up to that store for the first time to get some beakers and other accessories for the party. That whole store is a freak show. They did have some cool things mixed in with the odd, disturbing and kinda gross though. We haven’t made a return trip yet. I like your pins!

  2. How odd! We get the catalog from there, but I had never thought that they might have an actual store as well. My husband is a science teacher and loves all of the supplies, and they do have plenty of random toys & things, but it sounds like they carry different types of items in the actual store. Disturbing? I’m used to seeing small lightbulbs, chain links, science kits, and then the occasional transforming Power Ranger book.

  3. I’ll have to check out Science and Surplus. I have a soon to be eight year old who loves all things science. Thanks for the link.
    I love to colors too.

  4. I know what you mean. Anytime Nathan’s family is in town or Penny is feeling like she doesn’t have enough useless crap- it’s always that place! I walk in and immediately start yawning. I love it, but everyone takes FOREVER to go through the aisles of “stuff”!

  5. Those pushpins made me smile.

  6. I used to love Science and Surplus when I lived in Chicago (and was in college and didn’t have a line of touchy feely kids behind me). I would think it would be a pain now. I’d probably just shop online. But those pins are a heaping spoonful of happy!

  7. Thanks for the color therapy! 🙂 That Poland tree is spectacular!

  8. I just love those push pins! The colors are great!
