There was some holiday related making this week. I made Phoebe this valentine's top which I'm hoping isn't too hearty so she can wear it for more than one day, even though the fabric is called be my valentine.

And Oscar made some valentines for his classmates. His were the only handmade ones in the class. Kind of a bummer although I do get it. One or two valentines sure but trying to keep them focused on a whole classfull's is a challenge. This year I had Oscar draw one then I scanned it and printed a bunch out which he then went to town on with his beloved glitter glue. I'm sure the kids don't care either way, as long as they have sugar taped to them.

Folksters

These are the first four in a series of handmade dolls, the Folksters, that I plan to make to sell on etsy. These gals are all set to test the waters for me, as soon as I can figure out how to list them. (click thru the names to see more photos on flickr)

And this is Winifred, another member of the new Patchwork Set. She is more of a passive naturalist than camper Fern and prefers to hang out on her quilt and let nature come to her.

I can't remember if I've blogged these gals yet or not. This is Fern. She's a member of a new Patchwork Set and was part of a project I was working on last Spring that sort of fizzled out. I don't think I've shared her and her sisters yet, have I? The unexpected thaw here in Chicago the past few days had me prematurely thinking Spring and I remembered these gals and their photo shoots from last April. Fern looks all warm and breezy but actually it was freezing and super windy. She kept flying all over the place. I'd set her up and Tim would try to take the photo real quick before she went toppling over. Actually that day sorta reminds me of today. Maybe it is Spring.

We felt bad the only place the baby could find to sit and read a book was an empty legos box. Luckily we happened across these this weekend.

Blythe has a new poncho thanks to the dolly dolly book and now she's looking for a new adventure. And still a new name. I'm trying to think of something 70s that's not Jennifer or Michelle.

Wait.. I got it, Mary Ann! Cassandra said Ginger and that got me thinking Gilligan's Island and man, is this gal a Mary Ann or what?! Perfect. Now I just need to make her some short shorts. Thanks for all the great suggestions!

kimono quilt updated

I was just reading Jen's post on Nani Iro's Spring 09 fabric line here and looking at the Simply Iro flickr group here and thinking man, my kimono quilt photos are terrible. So I tried to take a few new shots. A little better I think. This is one of my absolute favorite quilts. It hangs in the hallway across from the living room and it's become such a fixture in our home.

I'd love to make another one, have a series of them. That'd be so cool. Not enough room here though. Sigh, why doesn't my ranch sprawl?

I was so sad to read Domino magazine is folding. It was such a wonderful magazine and I'm so glad, I think I have every issue. Recession sucks ass. At least I have pretty new Orla Kiely boxes to house them.
