Miss Phoebe is, despite my protestations, turning one year old very soon so I've been busy at work on presents. I really wanted to sew her up a few summer outfits. Below is what I came up with. I'm still not sure about this whole sewing kids clothes thing. I haven't had much luck. I always seem to have trouble with fit. I made this dress and bloomers from a McCalls pattern (2213) and it's giant. Ginormous even. Just huge. Especially the bloomers. I picked the right size for her measurements so I'm kinda bummed but at least it's not too small. She'll grow into it eventually.
This second set is a Japanese craft book top that I resized to fit a smaller size. It's cute but sort of too billowy at the neck. And the bloomers are from that Simplicity pattern again, even though I made them 2 sizes smaller they're still giant and weird. Way too wide.
This last shot at sewing for Phoebe was my big success. Pants from Burda (9650). They took me like 10 minutes to make, fit really nice and are very satisfyingly cute. I'm definitely going to make more pants! And if I get up the energy to do snaps I'm going to try the romper from this pattern too.
There she goes.. my little walker. She started walking about a month ago but was still relying mostly on crawling. This past week we've really seen her take off!
