This weekend in the midst of almost non-stop debating about houses and locations and commutes, Tim and I simultaneously decided the site design was bugging us. It never loaded right. Too much color. Maybe we’re just overwhelmed these days. Anyway, a simpler site for a hopefully simpler new year.

Here’s the New Years postcard I finally got out last week. I sent it to as many addresses as I had on hand and then pooped out. I still have some left and really wanted to send one to all the wonderful commenters who’ve kept me going with this blog thing. Want to send me your address?* (email them to hillary lang at gmail)

Oh, and if you see any glitches with the new site please let us know. Especially on a pc or in internet explorer which we can’t test. thanks!

*I’ve run out of international postcard stamps but if you’re a US’er don’t be shy, I have plenty!

I like the “new look” of the website. Things evolve over time… A new year, a baby on the way and house-hunting just seem like the natural part of the process don’t they?

I liked the site’s previous look, I thought it was cute with the dollhouse theme. But this new look is nice and streamlined with the side benefit of being “easy on the eyes.” The New Year’s postcard is lovely, the fuzzy “fur” of the cat makes him/her look very soft and the “dutch tile” top is adorable.

Love the new design! A nice new look for a new year…
(selfishly – if I ordered stitchettes, would you still have an address on file? ‘Cause that sure is a darling postcard…)

I really like the new site look. I liked the old one as well but a change is as good as a rest some times! looking for a house is not fun. We bought our house when I was pregnant too. not my favorite time, but once you find the one you love it is all worth it. good luck!

This is so fresh – love it. The older one loaded fine, but the background seemed to catch and then pop-up for a nice surprise while I was reading your post.

i got my sweet card on Saturday…totally lovely ๐Ÿ™‚
As soon as I popped onto the site today, I was blown away by the sheer…clean-ness of it all. Good clean January modernity!

  7. Allison says:

You have a wonderful site!(pun intended). I sent you an email with the loading errors I have with IE. But I adore the new design! I look forward to many more visits.

Cute new card! And I love the look of your winter stitchettes. My daughter is going to want the ice skater for sure.
The site looks great. My only note is that I am not seeing a link for your space boy/robot flikr group yet. I keep going back to the post where you mentioned it to access. I have a robot sitting unfinished that just needs a face and a control panel and the inspiration from the flikr group is coming in handy! ๐Ÿ™‚

love the new look! and while i am sheepishly admitting to use IE (shame, shame, shame) the very top bar is white not background blue, like I imagine you intended. but great, great! and congrats on your Craft press!!

its lookin good here Hillary, all spit shined. I got my cute postcard last week, in the midst of a really crazy day, and I stopped to smile. Thank you. I needed that.

Wow. I love the new, “simpler” site design and layout. I loved the old one too, but this one makes me think of neat stacks of starched linen and old children’s storybooks for some reason. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Sometimes, simpler is better! Beautiful.

Finding that postcard in my mailbox was the BEST surprise! Thank You!
The new banner is perfect too–the whole site looks great!
Sometimes less is more…I keep reminding myself! :o)

I really liked the old design, although it loaded a little slow. I especially liked the signboard that showed the way to the shop, I thought it was very “wee wonderful-ish”! I just need to get used to the new design, perhaps!:)

Love the new site! I’d love a postcard, always fun to get mail besides bills but dh would have a fit if I posted our addy on a comment. Where are you looking? We are near midway, I keep on meaning to post and say hi neighbor but never get a chance, if you have any questions about areas feel free to email me.

  15. Gina House says:

I have to admit…I did LOVE the old layout…it reminded me of my old dollhouse I had when I was a little girl. But, this one is fresh and simple…and if it’s easier…better for the mom-to-be!

I’ve been lurking for a while. I think your work is wonderful. So happy to see that I just came back (to US) from a trip from the Netherlands with that exact fabric you used as a shirt on the postie.

  17. Jen Beck says:

I love this new, simple layout. I also loved the old one. Change is refreshing, despite how much we often fight it!
I’m a PC user and I notice that the pattern photos are not showing up on the home page, but do here on the comments page.
Thanks again for all of your wonderful inspiration and your willingness to share it!

Simple is great! I love the soft blue in the background and the blue font you’re using for the headers. I’ve been tossing around a site redesign for my weblog, but haven’t found the time to do anything about it. Maybe this spring. Thanks for a little extra motivation though!

  19. Alicia P. says:

I LOVE this new design, especially the color of the blue background. I always try to paint rooms this color and totally flub it — it’s so beautiful. And it might even be the color you already had, but looks so different! (To me.)
Thank you for the postcard! I was thinking of you last night because I’m worried — it doesn’t seem like Christopher and Lorelei are getting along very well, does it. . . .
    What are we gonna do????

  20. TCheney says:

The new colors are nice. I didn’t mind the old. I googled some odd combination of words looking for a new hip color scheme for a project I was designing. Yours was the 2nd or 3rd site I hit with that combination. Spent far too long reading your blog and bookmarked you. Been a regular visitor since. oh…. I ended up using your palette for my project & it all went very well. Thanks for the inspiration!

  21. Monica (Happy Zombie) says:

Very nice redesign… but I kinda miss the previous design. I really miss your little red postbox. There’s a house around the corner from me that has postbox EXACTLY like yours and every time I see their mailbox I think of you.
I’m on a Mac too… so everything always looks good. Darn pesky PC’s and IE… some things on my blog get “ms-goofy” and it drives me bonkers!

  22. manela says:

oh my oh my oh my!
I got yesterday your postcard… oh thank you very much… I already mentioned you in my blog and made a link to your blog so that other people can see all these beautiful things you do
    bye, manela
