I've started on my quest to cover the apartment in doll quilts. Tiny tiny squares. Well ok 2" isn't that tiny but tiny enough for me. I can't decide if they want to be arranged symmetrically or just jumbled up. I'm thinking the latter. And maybe whipstitching them together instead of sewing them in the machine. Maybe while watching some netflix that have been sitting on top of the tv for about a month now. If you ever wonder how does netflix make any money. Us, it's us.

Just got off the horn with the printers and looks like middle of next week for embroidery patterns. We're having postcards made up of the girls and one of each will be included in the set. I can't wait to see how they turn out! And rockin bunny is on her way too. I think I'll go ahead and be offline until next week then. Miss Maggie is a week past her arrival date and is coming out in the next few days whether she likes it or not!

You'd think it was the dead of Winter around here the way Oscar is nuts for covers lately. He can't be sitting on the sofa unless he's under a pile of covers with all his books and toys jammed under there with him. And the piling! He spends a good part of our indoors time piling all his toys into towers. He walks around muttering pillows, playmobile toys, monster truck, cars... as he gathers everything up. He's snuggling in. So I thought I'd make him something super puffy. I made this quick and easy quilt from some great japanese fabric our friend Becky passed on to me and some Kona cotton, sewed it up like a pillow case and stuffed it with 4 layers of extra loft poly batting and then tied it down. Pouff!

I hope I'm not the only one feeling embroidery-y this Summer. We're taking a tiny mini break from work on the patternbooks to make the embroidery patterns available for sale. Sometime soon (hopefully this week!) Sam, Ruby, Tilly and Anna (Anna Angles) will be up in the shop as a set. Throw your name on the mailing list if you'd like to be notified when. If there is enough interest I'd love to do some new designs in the Fall. I'm thinking books, leaves, sweaters, etc. sigh...Fall. Not that I'm already over Summer but I did get a little sun-smacked this morning at the zoo. Sometimes I really want to be the 2 year old standing directly over the gushing water jets instead of the adult watching.

and a p.s. ... sorry for the hit and run post on Friday. only had a few moments to post so I think it's missing a little explanation. that rocking bunny is the next thank you postcard we're going to be sending out with orders. and no! I did not smock the dress. bunny is wearing thrift, a baby gap girls top as sundress.

2 years of blogging

Oops I missed my two year blog birthday. No big quilt/game this year I guess. Everything and nothing has changed in two years. Right from the beginning it was about quilts, a little thrift craft, some stuffed toys. There was a lot more knitting back then because someone was so tiny. There's the big change there. Just look at this baby back then!

It's funny to look at those old posts in the new layout. Where's my little red wagon? There was a wagon right? I'll have to see if Tim can dig up some of the old headers. I'm feeling sentimental. And I'm feeling like it'd be ok to eat leftover birthday cake for breakfast because you know, birthdays are birthdays.

A wall of antique doll quilts. I love it! I love the idea of making a slew of delicate, small scale, possibly even handsewn, geometric quilts and then arranging them as one big work of art on the wall. Problem is I have no blank walls. I may have to start on one anyway.

I haven't sewn up and stuffed these last two embroidered dolls yet. I may have a little something up my sleeve for them.

ahhh.. that's better. My wool felt stash has been restored thanks to this order from A Child's Dream Come True that came this weekend.

new supplies are a good distraction from sitting around waiting for my niece to make her grand entrance into this world. those aren't my impatient fingers you hear drumming on the desk. nope.

"I'm a Robot!"

Things are moving along at quite a clip around here lately. While Oscar is being happily kept busy by his summer activities I have had a lot of time on my hands to plug away on all sorts of projects and new ideas. I keep thinking after this one next thing I'll chill out, take a break, read a magazine on the porch but it's not shaping up to be that sort of summer. I guess to be honest, I never really shaped up to be that sort of person. Never been the lounging sort. I always have to be working away on something.

the somethings at present...

I've been thinking about dissolving thriftcraft and bringing it back into the fold of w.w. I just cannot handle the spam over there anymore. I wake up to a full inbox and click excitedly on inbox to see who all emailed me. oh, ring tones. great. I can't take that kind of dissapointment every day. But I do love thriftcraft so and even though it's been pretty sparse over there lately I know I'll come back to it full force some day. So then I was thinking maybe a partner? I don't know. Have to do something though, it is causing me some low grade anxiety just sitting there like that.

Yesterday in the shower I thought up maybe the most excellent book idea ever. Well most excellent for me. I love this idea. It has that new idea glow. You know when they're all shiny and new and reality hasn't scratched them up one bit. Instead of just shelving it like I have the other silly book ideas I've had I'm going to see if I can see it through to a proposal at least. How's this for a title, Silly Book Proposal #128. Who could pass on that?

Speaking of childrens books we've discovered some really amazing new books this summer I'll have to post about them soon.

And in the less hypothetical realm, the apartment in being taken over by WIP piles. Add those to the stacks of library books and the towers of mailing supplies and I think I've filled up every square inch of empty space. That's my plan for today...must restore empty space.

If I really was a robot, like Oscar, I'd have had all this stuff done already this morning, before I finished this first cup of coffee. Maybe if I could squeeze myself into that little box...
