I'm broken and I think my two year old did it. I can't complete a thought or a sentence, even inside my head, much less out here in the world. I was going to post this picture last week with a hooray for me I made something out of fimo post. I am no sculptress and making this doll look like the one in the book was tricky as hell. but instead it seems like a perfect analogy of how I'm feeling today, disjointed. so with that I'm going to go and enjoy the silence that is a napping toddler...
Here's another from my birthday stack of japanese craft books. This book like the clay dolls book is a bit of a departure from my normal japanese craft book picks. It's all about paper projects. I've never really gotten into paper as a medium but it's something I'd love to do in the future. So without further ado, allow me to introduce the lovely ISBN4-89444-471-2

It's back to the crafting of my youth around here, paper dolls. I was so excited to read about the great idea on Amy's blog to print out paper dolls on magnetic paper. Even more excited when I found out the very next day that my miniswapper is a 4 1/2 year old girl! I've been working on drawing up these paper dolls in Illustrator since. Yes, I'm *very slow* in Illustrator. I'm so happy with how they turned out. I was afraid they'd print out all dull but they're nice and bright. The only problem I'm having is some of them (here & here), the polarity is screwed up or something (yes, me and Diana) and they jump out of place and won't align right. Anyone had this problem? Now I just need to finish up a little home for them. I was thinking something like this magnetic book of Oscar's. I need to figure out if they make magnetic cardboard.
phew! I feel like I can finally come up for a breath and am not spending every free moment deep in the muck of code and development. I've had a chance to catch up on my blogs and so much is happening!
Congratulations to Amy and Amanda for reaching the big one year milestone! It is quite an achievement! Now we stop counting. I think blogging is one of those things you don't really want to know how long you've been at it after the one year mark. Maybe that should be added to Amy's Common Sense Rules for Mental Health.
Congratulations to Rosa for doll #500 and her adorable new doll design! Rosa's photos of her dolls are already so amazing and now with them being poseable - I can't wait to see what trouble they'll get into.
And Big Congratulations to Hannah for baby number 3, Arlo. What a cute name! And despite the fact that I'm extremely jealous of her six minute labor I'm still very happy for her. Hannah, I'm popping this little bunny in the mail to you today for the new baby. (best for up on a shelf though unless you want to embroider eyes)
I thought I'd share the photo because this is going to be the next free pattern on the site. Here's another view. She's a bunny variation of the wee pattern (which means she's easy to make!) and will be up in plenty of time to make it into Easter baskets.
In site improvement news, it was pointed out to me that my links list was too short. I like a short list but of course it's not representative of all the blogs I read so I added a link to 'and even more' down there under the weblogs links.
Also new to the sidebar, sometime today or tonight I'd like to add new galleries for the pointy kitty, the wees and shrinky dink pins. I'm going to set up flickr groups for each and then send out invites and I'll put the links up here. If you'd like to join you can add your kitties, wees and pins to the galleries. Then I'm going to add flickr badges to the sidebar. They pull a random photo from the group every time the page is loaded. That way, unlike the wee gallery I have up now on typepad, all of your photos will get some 'spotlight' time in the sidebar and when people click on them they'll link over to your flickr account. I think that sounds really fun! If you don't have a flickr account a basic account is free and it's easy to sign up even just to add a few photos. Then you can put a link in your profile back to your blog. (In case you're looking for how to's for flickr badges for your site the info is here. they really bury it and I always have a hard time finding it.)
Finally thanks to everyone who left a supportive comment about my new blog! I was really nervous about the reaction I'd get and I'm so excited people are looking forward to it. Now to get over there and fill it up with something!
So these days it's all about indulging whims. The latest? A little site on the side. A site about thrifting! I've been hooked on thrift for forever. I keep thinking I'll grow out of it but year after year I can't stop myself from frequenting the smelliest, dustiest thrift shops I can find. First dragging Tim and now both Tim and Oscar along with me. My excitement for thrifting really never wanes. And I could really go on and on and on about it -- the finds, the scores, the junk, the hits and misses, the sometimes crazy clientele -- but I don't. I always end up editing myself. Clogging up the works over here with play by play's of my thrifting has never seemed quite right. Lately though, I've been wanting to write about it more and more so I've decided to go for it and in a way that will not upset the routine here at wee wonderfuls. The librarian in me wants all the thrift stuff catalogued under its own heading. Tucked away neat and tidy in its own classification. Tim was a sweetheart and set up a new free wordpress blog for me. here it is, ThriftCraft!
Picked up the new Selvedge yesterday. So many wonderful and inspiring things in this issue. I keep having to put it down because it's too good and I can't take it in all at once. Here's a shot of some beautiful pojagi by Chunghie Lee.

Yeah, I know, I'm all about the big talk. But today is rainy and dark and dreary and I need photos for the big project so I'm putting it off til next week. Maybe I'll send out another messed up email to the mailing list when it's done. Sorry about that one yesterday to those of you on the list. HTML bested me again. Tim tried to console me with 'people are used to getting screwed up crap in their email'. Nice.
Thanks for the swell comments about Pickles and Rosalie! I love having a weblog. It is so much fun to find people out there in the world that are made as happy by bunny dolls as I am. Saves me from having to bug my friends and neighbors all Kaitlin style with them.
So on to more dolls... I'm going to start on the first batch of patternbook (I really want this to be a word) dolls. We've decided to do the patterns in volumes. First volume is going to be a set of 3 dolls like Paige, Lillian and Cordelia. Here's a sunnier photo I took last week of the fabric I have picked out for them.
