box of books

We hit a crazy-good booksale this weekend. We only had about 20 minutes to shop but managed to walk away with a very impressive box of vintage childrens books. So many great things I want to share. Tonight a few photos from The Little Golden Book Library before I pass out on my cold medication. This set is amazing, 4 volumes — Fairy Tales and Rhymes, Bedtime Stories, Our Wonderful World and Golden Favorites. A lot of familiar stories but quite a few that I’d never seen or heard of before — exciting! And so many amazing illustrators, Eloise Wilkin, J.P. Miller, Gustaf Tenggren, Feodor Rojankovsky…

More over on my flickr and for even more great illustration check out the new vintage childrens book flickr group started by Jenny B.

Ahh – just wonderful (she sighs deeply)! I love children’s literature – my dream is to open a children’s bookstore that includes both new and used children’s books – but only the really good ones! 🙂

Hi! I read your blog a lot for all the great inspiration in provides, being an extremely crafty girl myself, AND I am also a bookseller at a used/new/antique bookstore in San Francisco. I have this little miniature old book I got for free, which totally fits your asthetic. The content is a bunch of little quotes (sort of boring) but the front cover and the endpapers and the font (circa 1920’s) are so cool and whimsical. I think you would appreciate it. ANYWAY, I’ll send it to you if you want. As a present, even though you have no idea who I am! Ha.
I’m not a weirdo, just appreciative of the inspiration you provide. Get in touch through my email if you want!
