Ok I'm back on track already finally! Yesterday during Oscar's nap I was able to finish up one of the three kitties I've had cut out and partially made up since before the bunnies. I'd like to try to pass this off as my self portrait for month of softies. But I wasn't a kitty and my mom NEVER dressed me in pink. I named this gal Flora because of the bright pink and so of course the other two kitties will have to be Fauna and Merryweather. The hot pink is a soft fuzzy angora sweater all felted up and the dress is made from some awesome vintage fabric that Melissa sent me a while back.

Mothers of toddlers don't really get breaks do they. The only thing I'm accomplishing by taking a break from weblogging is finding more things to add to my already long list of things to write about! Oh and watching a lot of tv (I hate Rob and Amber!) And evidently the only thing keeping the creative/crafting part of my life going is this weblog. I was hoping a little pause would help me clear my head, maybe give me more time to get some things accomplished, maybe allow me a moment to see the bigger picture and find some new inspiration. Instead I've become slacky mcslacker pants. So enough breaking!

I did manage to finish up one project. The purple baby quilt. Here's a picture of it all quilted and puckered up with the striped binding on. Word is the recipients are pleased so that's good.

I also sent out my pincushions for the pincushion swap I signed up for on craftster. I sent off a lily pad and this fellow made from an embroidered vintage toddler's outfit.

What I have not managed to do and guess I'm not going to get to, is a doll for the Month of Softies. I had a few vague ideas but nothing would come together. I'm disappointed in myself but I don't want to make something I'm not happy with. Speaking of MOS... I just saw Camilla's softie and it's amazing! All the cute things I'm seeing around are definitely recharging me.

spring break!

I was reading on rebecky how she's taking a much-needed break and was inspired. It's officially Spring Break 05 around here too. I need to clean house, get organized, re-energize, etc. I'll be back next week sometime. Hope everyone has a happy Easter!

I recently rediscovered this super cool artist Lisa Solomon. I first heard of her months ago via Dioramarama. I'm a sucker for artists whose work is inspired by traditional craft. Her artist's statement is very interesting. And her embroidered pieces are amazing...

and of course I love her robots!

Now she has stuff at Cafe Press. I have to get one of these robot mugs!

costco cute

I found these cute stripey socks on a weekend trip to Costco for cheap meat. They're for kids but they're so stretchy they fit me fine. They really cheer me up. So fruity and bright and I'm always running out of socks so 8 pairs for $8 is a score. Get your costco cards out...

I'm working on a building

Log cabin man! It's my new favorite pattern. Here's a log cabin quilted pillow I made this weekend. I wanted to make something fun out of the beautiful center square that Camilla sent me. Now these little fellas are 3D and huggable and hanging out on the sofa with the rest of the softies. I'm hooked. I fear soon this house will be swimming in pillows!

Felt Carrysmall

Here's a little carrysmall I made out of wool felt with vintage trim and button for a trade I have set up.

I still have so many odds and ends I've been wanting to post about. Maybe today during nap time. Not like we're leaving the house because it's what-the-f'ing (snowing) AGAIN. sigh. But I'm feeling good about my organization. I've discovered tadalist!

Thanks to all the bunny bidders! I may have one more up my sleeve. Well, sitting on my craft table in pieces. We'll see how it goes. And I've put up 2 lily pad pincushions in the WeeAuction for this week.
